About Wireless Vehicle Management Systems
Vehicle Management Systems (VMS) help improve workplace safety and security by restricting vehicle access to trained, authorized operators, providing electronic vehicle inspection checklists, and sensing vehicle impacts. A wireless VMS also helps reduce fleet maintenance costs by automatically uploading vehicle data, reporting vehicle problems electronically, scheduling maintenance according to actual usage rather than by calendar time, and helping determine the optimal economic time to replace equipment. In addition, a wireless VMS helps improve supply chain productivity by establishing accountability for the use of equipment, ensuring equipment is in the proper place at the right time, streamlining material handling work flow, and providing unique metrics on equipment utilization.
About the VAC4 VMS Device
The VAC4 simplifies VMS installation on industrial trucks, with an installation time of as little as one hour, enables VMS to be more easily hosted as a remote service, and enhances VMS functionality. The VAC4 is a versatile platform for a variety of wireless solutions, including Wi-Fi, VHF and cellular, which support cloud-hosting. This “VMS-as-a-service” approach enables customers reduce upfront capital outlay and benefit from a wide range of hosting, technical support and maintenance services, along with software licenses, for a flat monthly fee. The VAC4 also features many enhancements over earlier generations of VMS hardware, designed to improve the operator’s experience. For example, the VAC4 has a phone-type, alphanumeric keypad and a larger, more versatile display, with new on-screen icons and animations, to make it easier for the operator to interact with system information and alerts.
